Topic of the Month – November 2017

Posted on: October 31, 2017

This month’s topic is ‘Uncertainty’

Next month’s TOTM will be Victory.

Every month this website will feature ten to twenty Horacek cartoons on a chosen topic. I chose them alphabetically. All cartoons are ©Judy Horacek. I’d rather you didn’t use these cartoons without my permission, but if you must, I’d appreciate it if you acknowledge my authorship and the source.  They are cartoons, not memes! Cartoons this month were first published in The Age, The Australian, Overland Magazine, Art Monthly and my very first cartoon book, Life on the Edge.

I also love your cartoons Judy, they are very evocative.
The one set in a toilet cubicle, took me back many years when I was attending NSWIT in the old Anthony Hordens building in Sydney (temporary class rooms while a new building was under construction). Written in fine print at the very bottom of the door was “YOU ARE NOW LEANING OVER AT 90 DEGREES”
    Best wishes
    Terry

Sorry about your loss Maurissa. Glad my cartoons could make you smile. Glad you liked the Are we there yet cartoon too. In spite of the awfulness of the whole process, I did kind of have fun doing the cartoons. Warm wishes, Judy

I don’t laugh out loud much – but certainly do at your cartoons!

    Thanks once more Judy,
That “greatness” cartoon has set off an old Ian Dury song in my head (“I Wanna Be Straight”) – which is much better than what was there before!
    Cheers,
    Henry

I love that Ian Dury song, but my fave is ‘Reasons to be cheerful part Three’ (or ‘free’ as it sounded). I used it as the name for an exhibition once years ago, all happy work.

I love these! “Some Days” and “Little Bo Peep” are particularly resonating at the moment… So disappointed I couldn’t get to the recent exhibition. I hope it went really well!

Thanks Sarah. Yes, the exhibition went very well. I thought it looked great, and lots of people came, and quite a lot of work sold. Who could ask for anything more?
