Topic of the Month – May 2018

Posted on: April 30, 2018

This month’s topic is ‘Yoga, Mindfulness and Overthinking’- a multifaceted topic that allows for lateral cartoon connections. I know what I mean.

Next month’s topic is Zebras and Giraffes.

Every month this website will feature twenty or so Horacek cartoons on a chosen topic. I chose them alphabetically. All cartoons are ©Judy Horacek. I’d rather you didn’t use these cartoons without my permission, but if you must, I’d appreciate it if you acknowledge my authorship and the source.  They are cartoons, not memes! Cartoons this month were first published in the newspapers The Age, The Australian, Overland, and an environmental cartoon project I was involved in in North Carlton many years ago, Curbin’ the Urban.

Hi Shirley, it was great to meet her, and hilarious to realise the connection, which only happened later, well after the party. Glad you liked this month’s cartoons (a good topic for your daughter!) Hope everything is going well with you, Judy x

    Hi judy,
i truly love your work! been following for years
I am currently writing a book on workplace stress and hoping it will shed light on stress in a positive , funky, funny, relaxed way.
would you consider with permission & acknowledgement of course; allowing inclusion of 1 or 2 of your cartoons please? just a thought at the moment i really am at the beginning of my journey.

Hi Maurisssa, glad you like the work. Can you send your request to info@horacek.com.au. It’s easiest for me to have all my requests in the one place, otherwise I end up with the sense of missing things (and do actually miss things), best, Judy

Thanks Martina. I’ve done a number of cartoons based on The Thinker, such an iconic work is an irresistable jumping off point for cartoons I find.

the sunset/mobile phone reception cartoon is my favorite in this bunch! laughed and laughed. very appropriate for my small corner of the world with awful reception, except at the beach, bouncing off of Canada.

    LOL

thanks for just being you, Judy.

Glad you enjoyed it T. It was just a co-incidence that the newsletter came out on a Monday – perfect for the haiku cartoon though! Happy writing to you.
