Topic of the Month – April 2019

Posted on: March 31, 2019

This month’s topic is ‘Hearts’. Metaphorical, literal, sentimental, allegorical, decorative – we have all kinds. May yours stay unbroken, and be full almost to bursting.

Next month’s topic is ‘Ideas’.

Every month this website will feature twenty or so Horacek cartoons on a chosen topic. I choose them alphabetically. All cartoons are ©Judy Horacek. I’d rather you didn’t use these cartoons without my permission, but if you must, I’d appreciate it if you acknowledge my authorship and the source.  They are cartoons, not memes! Cartoons this month were first published in The Age, The Australian, The Canberra Times and in my second cartoon collection, Unrequited Love Nos. 1-100.

Just caught up with April topic on the last day of the month. Loved the maze and (unfortunately) Refugee Crisis – so true. Best wishes for Canberra exhibition. Saw you at the National Library in March – great talk. Thanks

Thanks Barbara. Glad you enjoyed the talk at the Library, and thank you for liking April’s cartoons. I’m busy at work at getting May’s up – this year is flying by!

Thanks so much for all these. The maze is sad… there doesn’t seem to be a way through… for one heart to meet another. Unless they bravely take wing? Which is perhaps what a heart should do? 🙂

Hi Gaz, there deliberately wasn’t a way through the maze, it was about sadness. It is from my second cartoon collection, Unrequited Love Nos1-100. But I LOVE your solution – of the hearts bravely taking wing. Yes, of course that’s what hearts should do!

Thank you Rose, you are very kind. I’ll keep posting progress pictures, but also the whole show will be put online by the gallery when it comes closer to the time (also obviously they can’t do it till I’ve finished the work!)
