New Judy Horacek Cartoon Book!

Posted on: March 14, 2016

It’s been a while since my last cartoon collection was published – 2010 in fact (that book by the way was If you can’t stand the heat, Scribe Publications) and I’ve been thinking for a while it’s about time to do a new one.  After thinking long and hard about it, I’ve decided to self-publish this one.  Like the last two, the book will be in full colour, and this one will contain cartoons from my weekly gig in the Age, my monthly gig in the online feminist journal Sheilas, and various odds and sods from other jobs.  It doesn’t have a title as yet (I hate titles) but it will be the usual mix of change the world cartoons and silly jokes, feminist and left-leaning with an overarching concern for the environment.  And it will be hilarious of course.

After thinking about it a lot, I’ve decided to self-publish this one, with the help, hopefully, of a crowdfunding campaign in April, with the book coming out in August.  For anyone who hasn’t experienced crowdfunding yet, basically how it works is that you pledge to give me money upfront – for example to buy one of my new books, which gives me the resources to publish the book, and I send you a copy before it hits the shops.  I’m hoping that a lot of the people who would buy my book anyway, will be happy to help out in making this one happen.  Fingers crossed.

If you’d like to get email updates about the campaign as it develops, including The Announcement of the All-Important Campaign Launch, send me an email to infoAThoracekDOTcomDOTau with the subject heading NEW BOOK NEWS and I’ll add you to the special mailing list.  Otherwise, watch this space!
