Let the inimitable Judy Horacek take you on a hilarious journey through the tiny tragedies, the daily miracles, and the bewildering absurdities of the contemporary world in this wonderful collection.
From the pertinent and profound to the silly and surreal, Make Cakes Not War is filled with witty, instantly recognisable pictures of our anxieties, our excesses, and our experiences with talking animals.
My first cartoon collection to be published in colour, and the first one to be published in the United States of America! This book contains cartoons from my gigs on both the Australian and the Canberra Times. Both spots were in weekend magazine sections, and I think the cartoons reflect that – kind of laid-back, whimsical, curious looks at life, something nice to think about over a leisurely breakfast. But of course there is always going to be some political comment, like the title cartoon, and some others. And as always, most of the cartoons have women as the main characters – which surprisingly is still seen by many as a political act.
